Inspiration
Our team celebrated this Holiday season together by enjoying festive food and drinks in New York City. One of the stops included a trip to the Starbucks Reserve Roasters, where we tried their seasonal peppermint espresso martini. It balanced notes of sweet mocha with peppermint in both the drink and the whipped cream topping, and was spirited with a single malt vodka.
Espresso martinis have gained massive popularity in recent years, and we’ve been noticing these drinks with a variety of different flavors all around the country. Forbes reported last year that it has become one of the top selling cocktails, aligning with the broader trend of nostalgia.
Seasonality
While the espresso martini is in part so popular because it can be enjoyed year-round, one way to make it even more desirable is through the infusion of more seasonal flavors. This was crafted beautifully by Starbucks’ peppermint variety.
Our team predicts that this cocktail is here to stay, and may even make its way beyond bars and restaurants. Coffee and cocktails have both been a breakfast and brunch mainstay for years. It’s therefore become a pairing to rival even PB&J, fitting seamlessly onto restaurant and cafe menus.
