One of our favorite flavors we’ve made recently is Georgia peach, our rendition of this sweet, fresh fruit. Especially these past few summer months, the requests for different peach flavors have just kept coming. White peach, peaches and cream, peach tea, Georgia peach, the list goes on. We’ve had success in multiple applications for each, but today the highlight is on perhaps the most classic peach.
Georgia peaches
While we do see peaches in New Jersey, they are nearly synonymous with Georgia. Since 1995, the peach has been Georgia’s state fruit, and it adorns their license plates, is seen on menus across the state, and is celebrated annually at the Georgia Peach Festival.
While they are no longer the largest producers of peaches in the U.S., Georgia still has some of the best peaches in the country. Most of their peaches are still sold fresh at markets, and there are no major processing plants in the state. We ordered a box of Georgia peaches from Lane Southern Orchards last week, and they were fresh, juicy, and delicious!
Applications
With a versatile flavor profile, peaches are found in a variety of products. Perhaps most commonly, peaches are found in beverages, with one of the most popular being peach flavored iced tea. At BevNet last month, we saw peach flavor in a wide variety of new and established beverages. Loverboy White Tea Peach sparkling hard tea, Celsius sparkling raspberry peach, and KACE peach gummi, to name a few.
We’ve also been seeing peaches on cocktail and drink menus at various restaurants and cafes. We recently tried the “pristine peach palmer” at Faubourg, a cocktail bar in Montclair, which is made up of wild turkey bourbon, peach tea, tarragon, saffron, and lemon. Playing into the mocktail space, we’ve also developed a Peach Bellini flavor, with notes of peach and champagne. Particularly in a seltzer, this flavor really delivers on taste, and feels just like the classic cocktail.
On the savory side, peaches work great as a sweeter complement. Try it with burrata for a light appetizer, or wrap with prosciutto for something a little heavier. Grilled peaches also pair well with pork tenderloin, for an easy and delicious summer dinner. With our full list of savory flavors, the added Georgia peach notes creates a complex and memorable flavor profile.
